The Approach
All patients are examined and given a complete rhinological examination, in which the external aspects of the nose and the internal aspects of the nose are examined with an endoscope. Patients who have had cancer also receive a general head and neck examination. As an ENT specialist, and Head and Neck – Rhinology – Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Specialist, we are perfectly placed to assess the condition of your nose and treat it if necessary. Some patients will be asked to fill out questionnaires. We have a standardized protocol of questionnaires for patients who need a complex nose reconstruction. In addition, all patients are photographed. We take at least 6 photographs. Some patients need a CT scan to provide insight into 3-D modeling of defects, to support the surgical plan. Some patients who need a more complex reconstruction may be assessed by a psychologist before surgery. Some patients need two outpatient consultations prior to surgery.
