Functional Rhinoplasty
This surgery is performed to address breathing difficulties through the nose
1. Where a deviation of the nose is causing breathing difficulties
2. A kink or twist to the septum of the nose causing breathing difficulties
Most of these procedures will require an open rhinoplasty to address both the deviation and septal abnormalities.
We have excellent results using extracorporeal techniques to treat a deviated septum to correct any nasal breathing issues.
Occasionally a nasal valve problem will also exist. In these circumstances, in addition to addressing the septal abnormality, we will address the nasal valve. We do this by one of three ways
- Inserting cartilage grafts - Batten and Spreaders
- Inserting a Butterfly graft
- Other techniques
